Brna – settlement and bay near Smokvica
The fishing settlement of Brna is situated directly by the sea,
on the southern coast of the Dalmatian island of Korčula. Situated
in an excellent natural location, in a green bay, bathing in the
Mediterranean sun, Brna developed as a port for transport of wine
from the 4 km distant village of
Smokvica.
They say that its name originates from the word
taberna, which, in Latin, means a boatbuilding
workshop.
The sun and the sea, the preserved tradition and natural
beauties, as well as the development of tourist offer during the
last decades, made Brna an attractive destination for guests who
seek peace, relaxation and to be touch with the age-long
Mediterranean. The Hotel Feral was constructed in 1971.
To the west of Brna, there are Mali Zaglav
peninsula and Istruga bay, while in the
south-east, in the direction of the settlement Zavalatica, many
pebbled coves are situated.
Due to the rich pine tree vegetation and intense sea blueness,
they are very attractive for bathing, but also for relaxation in
the shade during hot days in the south Adriatic.
